This Project aims to develop cognitive wireless sensor networks and their implementation on FPGA based wireless sensor nodes. An energy efficient spectrum sensing architecture has been proposed. This spectrum sensing architecture is cognitive with respect to time , space as well as network traffic. The traditional routing and scheduling mechanisms cannot be applied in CWSN as the network parameters are changing. So work is going on to propose new algorithms for routing, MAC layer protocols. We are also working on Information Fusion in Wireless Sensor networks. The main aim of this work is to simplify Information Fusion in WSN so as to improve the energy consumption in WSN. The work will be helpful for the sensor nodes and mobile communication devices in the spectrum scarce RF environment as well as for achieving enhanced QoS.


SPCRC, as a part of this project,has implemented a Cognitive Wireless Sensor Network Testbed,which comprises of the following modules:
   1. Primary user traffic emulation
   2. Secondary user emulation
   3. Cooperative spectrum sensing
   4. Normal spectrum sensing
   5. Primary user monitoring
   6. Ad-Hoc communication
